2016 Family Island Regatta Report #1

Although the Rage is not racing in George Town this year, the A.R.S.S. is racing another Class A boat, Southern Cross. In fact the crew from Hope Town will be racing in all three classes! Below is Stafford’s first report from the Exumas:

Our boats:
B Class: Lonesome Dove 21′, 7 to 8 crew
C Class: It Ain’t Right 17′, 3 to 5 crew
A Class: Southern Cross 28′, 8 to 14 crew. NOTE: This boat belongs to a friend from Nassau, we have sailed it a couple times in the past as we will this time because they couldn’t get enough crew together for Regatta. Has great potential to do well.
There are 12 of us, all sailors. 9 men 3 women. It will be a long day for some of the crew that will sail in all 3 classes. 1 race per class per day = 4 races total in the Regatta each Class. The first race is a non points race, the Regatta winner will be determined by best score of the other 3 races.
In A Class we will be up against the likes of Tida Wave, Lady Muriel, Running Tide, Ruperts Legend, Red Stripe. Guessing there is 10 A boats here.
In B it’s Susan Chase, Eudevia, Lady Sonia, Cobra, Tari Anne. Should be about 12 boats.
In C we have the Whitty K, Bull Reg, Beerly Legal, Sweet Island Gal there will be about 35 C boats!
The weather report looks great, winds 10-12 knots and no squally weather.
We, the Crew (ARSS) are really excited about our chances this year, enthusiasm is high and so far everything is going smoothly.
