Anticipation Is The Spice Of Life

I’ve been crew on The Rage at least a half dozen times in the last year, but this is different. Along with my wife Phyllis and several other guys from Hope Town, I’m off to George Town and The National Family Island Spring Regatta (what a mouthful!).

One of the guys has a vintage flying boat and we’re hitching a ride down island, where we’ll take up residence for the week on a Swan 65. Can’t thank everyone enough for this opportunity.

Our fearless leader, Stafford Patterson announced on Saturday that The Rage under tow by m/v Nomad, under the command of Captain Randy, had made it safely to George Town and The Lonesome Dove had successfully made the trip via the freight boat from Nassau.

The Rage is a Class A workboat of the first order. On Wednesday at 3:30pm the starting gun will go off for the Prime Minister’s Cup, which is a non-points race. This will give the crew members a chance to practice as a team, especially the anchor start which will be a completely new experience for the Hope Town gang we’re flying down with. Our club races are all conventional starts.

Everyone is pumped for the event and I have no doubt that the Abaco Contingent will give 120%, but no matter what happens, you can be sure we’ll make you proud. We’ll try to take lots of pix and keep you posted on a daily basis with race results for both The Rage and The Lonesome Dove, so stay tuned for updates.
