Neil Drori descibes the race on Thursday April 26:
12:30 pm race committee calls 3 circuits of the course, leaving all marks to starboard and last mark to por,t which nobody seems to like.
Dove crew starts well, but gets hit from behind by Lady Sonia as they are raising sails and go into irons. Getting out quickly they are in second place coming to the mark when 2 boats round to port!
At first the race committee says nothing but all the teams protest, and rather than penalizing the 2 teams, the committee decides to restart the race.
While nobody is happy, it turns out well for The Dove, which gets off to a great start the second time around.
The Dove is 3rd around the first mark and Stork II drops out due to a broken rig.
The Dove is in a very tight group around mark 3, but finds herself 4th around the mark.
Approaching mark 5, positions 2 to 4 are very tight with Lady Sonia well in front and around the mark to starboard. The Dove retakes 3rd!
Coming up to mark 6, the Heathcliff rounds in second place 30 seconds in front of The Dove in 3rd and that ends the first points race for B Class.
